It says instead \"Use OAuth when your client supports it. If your client doesn't support OAuth, use an agent API key as a bearer token in the Authorization header\", linking docs.stripe.com/keys#agent-keys (section 9), where an agent API key is a restricted API key tagged as belonging to an autonomous agent and subject to approval rules. docs.stripe.com/llms.txt, 707 lines, has no line naming the MCP page (section 10)",
      "ownership": "unchanged: GET https://stripe.com/.well-known/public-agents.json answers 404 (section 11); _public-agents.stripe.com TXT answers NXDOMAIN, Status 3, through a public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (section 12)",
      "artifact-redactions": "two request-id header values (req_ followed by a short id) are replaced by a labelled placeholder after the run; nothing else was changed"
    }
  },
  "finding": "With no credentials, an MCP initialize POST to mcp.stripe.com still answers 401, and the one thing the 2026-09-17 record found wrong with the challenge is fixed: the resource_metadata parameter is a quoted-string now, so a parser that follows RFC 7235 extracts the URL that it dropped ten days ago. The resource document it names and the authorization server's metadata are as before (one scope, dynamic registration, public clients only), and the metadata is served only at the RFC 8414 path-insertion form. The JSON body gained an error_code, missing_api_key. Separately, the documentation page replaced its two sentences on authentication: where it named a restricted API key as the bearer alternative to OAuth it now names an agent API key, a restricted key tagged as an autonomous agent's and placed under approval rules. Both quotations the entry carried from those sentences are no longer on the page. Ownership signals unchanged. No credential was used, no client registered, nothing paid; what the server does with a credential is not measured.",
