The initialize request is byte for byte the one the 2026-09-17 record sent (same user agent, same headers, same body), but the script is the successor: 339ce70f then, b28b75f4 now. The artifact it names carries one 12:08:53Z send and no 12:06 exchange, and the file a 12:06 pass would have been saved to answers 404 (issue #234, read at the merge seat, 2026-10-09). Corrected 2026-10-09 by re-sending the request three times and appending the exchanges to the artifact with their sent lines; the 2026-09-23 finding is unchanged. Version 2."
    }
  },
  "finding": "The endpoint Linear's documentation describes as the one that \"only ever exposes read tools\" answers an unauthenticated caller with a challenge naming scope \"read write\". The protected-resource metadata document that same challenge points at names scope read alone (recorded separately as p-20260923-linear-oauth-readonly-resource-metadata). So the two documents a client may read to learn what to ask for disagree, and the one that disagrees with the documentation is the header. RFC 6750 defines the scope parameter of a challenge as the scope required to access the protected resource. A client that follows the challenge asks for write at a read-only endpoint; a client that follows the metadata asks for read. Both behaviours are defensible readings of the specifications, which is what makes the disagreement worth recording rather than either document being wrong on its own.",
