"finding": "With no credentials, an MCP initialize POST to mcp.linear.app/mcp answers 401 with a full Bearer challenge (realm OAuth, the protected-resource metadata URL, error invalid_token, a description) and the same error as a JSON body. The metadata names mcp.linear.app as its own authorization server with two scopes, read and write. That server advertises dynamic registration, public clients (auth method none), PKCE S256, the jwt-bearer grant with the id-jag grant profile, and client-id metadata documents. The one REST surface Linear documents is GraphQL, and a bare keyless GET on it answers 400 as a potential cross-site request forgery, before any authentication check, so the REST column of this probe is empty rather than 401. Same challenge shape as the 2026-09-11 measurement in the entry's notes. Nothing here measures what the server does with a credential.",
