"finding": "With no credentials, an MCP initialize POST to the hosted GitHub MCP server answers 401 and names its protected-resource metadata in the challenge; a bare GET answers the same. The metadata is readable without a credential and lists ten GitHub scopes, while the authorization server it names advertises exactly one scope, offline_access, PKCE S256, and the authorization_code, refresh_token and device_code grants. It advertises NO registration_endpoint, so there is no dynamic client registration: the vendor's own one-click path works because its official image ships pre-registered credentials, and any other client is registered by hand. That is the fact an agent operator needs and it is not in the vendor's prose. No authenticated request was made, so what the server does with a credential is not measured here. One IP, one sample, one moment.",
